Project goals

The goal of this project was to identify potential usability issues and find ways to improve the user experience in the Esotiq.com mobile application

Methodology

I chose the Cognitive Walkthrough method to conduct the UX audit. It involves simulating the user's thinking process through the steps he or she must take when using the application. I focused on three main areas: navigation, functionality and consistency of the interface in terms of performing the main activity in the application - purchasing a product.

Research and analysis

I started by understanding users' goals and the main scenarios of their interaction with the Esotiq.com application. Then I analyzed the application in terms of usability, taking into account the criteria of ease of navigation, understandability of functions and consistency of the interface.

Selected areas

1. Navigation

  • I assessed whether the user could easily navigate the app to find the features and sections they needed.

  • I focused on the consistency of icons, labels and navigation buttons.

2. Functionalities

  • I tested the accessibility and ease of use of the main functions of the application, such as browsing products, adding them to the cart and finalizing purchases.

  • I have identified potential difficulties in performing key actions in the application.

3. Interface consistency

  • I checked that the application interface was consistent in terms of colors, graphic style and layout of elements.

  • I made sure that the buttons and interactions were clear and easy for the user to understand.

  • I audited it for WCAG

Conclusions and recommendations

  • After conducting the UX audit, I prepared a report containing conclusions and recommendations for improving the Esotiq.com application. I recommended, among others:

  • Unified icons and navigation labels for greater consistency.

  • Added a return to the previous page in key areas of the app to make navigation easier.

  • Improving the readability and understandability of messages and warnings for users.

  • Improving the process of adding products to the cart and notifications about this fact

  • Improved checkout process

Effects

Thanks to the UX audit with the cognitive walkthrough method, the client was able to identify important areas for improvement in their mobile application. The implementation of the recommendations contributed to improving the user experience and increasing conversions in the application.

Summary

By understanding user needs and identifying areas for improvement, the company was able to effectively increase the usability and attractiveness of its mobile application, which contributed to increased customer satisfaction and business success.

The next stage of work will be corrections in user flow, UX and a new design system for the entire application, which I will talk about in a separate case study.
