Business assumptions

Their goal was to create a centralized communications center for all employees, including features such as news updates, information about employee benefits, the ability to send messages and access to discount coupons. Additionally, they wanted to create a dedicated platform for employees to apply for social packages and complete the necessary documentation.

Role in the process

My role in the process, thanks to cooperation with Cut2Code, was to carry out design work in the field of UX and UI.

Challenge

Most Biedronka employees did not have company e-mail accounts. In this situation, the intranet was their main source of information. The client needed a website available to all employees, friendly to mobile devices and compliant with the latest trends and accessibility standards.

Process

UX audit

In the first phase of cooperation, I conducted a UX audit of the existing website to identify basic errors, problems and possible solutions.

UX research

  • UX research was conducted, including technical workshops with employees to understand their needs. Users emphasized the importance of adaptation to mobile devices, visibility on the home page and an attractive layout of articles.

  • User feedback played a key role in shaping the direction of the project.

Mock-up design

  • It started by creating mockup proposals, allowing users to choose from three colour schemes. The goal was to maximize employee satisfaction by improving navigation, adding filtering and sorting options, introducing widgets for popular content and refreshing the home page.

  • A design system was created that ensured visual and functional consistency between various interface elements, facilitating scaling and maintaining consistency in the long term.

Functionality implementation

  • A map of anniversaries has been introduced, thanks to which employees can congratulate themselves on work anniversaries. This feature increases employee engagement.

  • The "news" page ensures that all users can easily find and read news, thus staying up to date with relevant information.

  • A special subpage was introduced for the holiday season, offering employees the opportunity to participate in competitions and quizzes.
